Community Futures Rural Development Fund (CFRDF)

ATTENTION APPLICANTS!

Thank-you for your interest in our grants. Unfortunately, applications for our grant programs are currently closed. Through the Community Futures Rural Development Fund, we approved 58 grants totaling $450,000 to local entrepreneurs and community projects

We do anticipate the possibility of similar funding in 2010. You are welcome to review the categories for funding and eligibility information as below, from our 2009 programs.

The Community Futures Rural Development Fund (CFRDF)is a Government of Canada initiative that promotes rural socio-economic development in Southwest Ontario, leading to a more competitive and diversified regional economy, and contributing to the successful development of businesses, job opportunities and sustainable, self-reliant communities. CFRDF funding is delivered by the Community Futures Development Corporations (CFDCs) in Southwest Ontario.

Applications will be assessed by the BCFDC on a first come first considered basis until all funds have been committed. Applications received by the second Monday of the month will be reviewed within that month. You are encouraged to apply as early as possible.

Process for Applicants:
  1. Review Program Guidelines.
  2. Submit your application/proposal via email and drop off or mail original to the BCFDC office.
  3. CFRDF Planning Committee reviews applications and makes recommendations to the BCFDC's Board of Directors for approval.
  4. Applicants are notified of funding decisions.
  5. Letters of Offer are sent to successful applicants.
The Bruce Community Futures Development Corporation offers a variety of programs that support projects for community economic development with financial assistance for Southwestern Ontario Small Business Owners.

Applications will be evaluated based on the Community Futures Rural Development Fund objectives:
  • Does this project develop a skill?
  • Does the project develop a market?
  • Does the project develop an activity that will create jobs?
Non-for-profit organizations

Local Initiatives

The Bruce Community Futures Development Corporation offers a program that supports projects, which support the community economic development. Ideally, the projects are made in partnership with municipalities, or non-profit organizations, which work to highlight the efforts of development of their municipality.

Community Capacity Building

The Bruce Community Futures Development Corporation offers a program that supports community capacity building projects. These projects must have long-term impact that will create jobs, boost local economy and increase the local business competitiveness.

Profit organizations

Business development

The Bruce Community Futures Development Corporation offers a program that will support entrepreneurs as well as potential entrepreneurs in the elaboration of a business, export or marketing plan in order to validate the hypothesis (i.e.: markets available, feasibility, etc.), to identify the potential risks and the solutions associated in day to day operations of the business. Also, potential lenders or partners of the firm might require this plan.

Non-for-profit and profit organizations

Skills development

The Bruce Community Futures Development Corporation offers a program that supports skills development for local labor force. The objective is to support the private and non-profit industry employee training initiatives, while providing enhanced skills in the local labor force.

Internship Fund

The Internship Fund provides recent secondary, post-secondary and retraining graduates with valuable skills from full-time work experience in business and economic development with the objective of leading to longer term employment in the area.

Youth Interns may be up to the age of 30 and must have graduated with a degree, diploma or Ontario Ministry Certificate from a secondary or post-secondary institution directly related to the approved project activity.

Non-Youth Interns must have recently graduated from a secondary or post-secondary institution or from a retraining program and looking to further develop their skills through a full-time work experience in a position directly related to their education.
