| Kim has been operating her cleaning business in Tobermory since May of 2006 as a way of creating her own job. She worked cleaning motels, but was laid off each winter because of the seasonal nature of the tourism industry on the peninsula. She took what she new and created a business plan for a venture that would offer home and cottage cleaning, property management and personal shopping services to clients. Kim currently has about 87 customers in the Tobermory, Dorcas Bay and Cameron Lake areas and a waiting list of 5 people that she just can't find the time for in her regular schedule. She has found strong support for her business and is very pleased to see that the business is able to operate year round. Kim embodies the spirit of the P.E.A.K. Awards because of her perseverance to succeed in finding year round employment for herself. This determination has created not only a job for her, but three others. Kim's ability to identify a need in the market, and her steadfast resolve to offer superior customer service has resulted in a much needed business that benefits the community as a whole. |
