2011 Business of the Year
(Over 5 Employees)
R. Noble and Sons Inc.
The winner of this award is a 4th generation family run business that is celebrating its 110th anniversary this year! R Noble & Sons Inc. is a custom truck body and welding shop that has been serving the Bruce and Grey areas since 1901. It is currently owned and operated by Andy and Lisa MacDonald, they purchased the business from Lisa’s father Ralph Noble who had taken over the business from his parents. R. Noble and Sons services the truck body industry from their Shallow Lake location, but began as a blacksmith and repair shop, before branching out to wagon, carriage and sleigh manufacturing. With the advent of gas powered vehicles, farm truck bodies were added to the product line, along with a feed chopping mill. The company survived changes in the community, technology and the strain of working with family. R. Noble and Sons has survived they because they continue to reinvent themselves and search for ways to better serve their clients. Since taking over in 2004, Andy and Lisa have continued this innovative philosophy. They have continued building truck bodies both large and small and while they still do some of the wooden cattle bodies, most of the work is now steel and aluminum.  Snow plows are still a huge part of the business, as well as all types of hydraulics and power lift gates.  They are now very busy in upfitting pickup trucks with anything from ladder racks and tool boxes, to hydraulic roll off bodies.  They now offer a full line of vehicle accessories and trailer hitch's and have just recently added Rhino truck bed spray lining.  Andy and Lisa continue to make many upgrades to the building and equipment to make things run more efficient and increase productivity so that R. Noble & Sons remains a thriving business for the next 110 years.
